News from Vells HQ and MT2 Development

I will take this opportunity to wish everyone here including Cybershark, Milina sorry Milian, Baah-vd-Plas and ChipHead a very happy Advent, Christmas, and New Year.

Some of you may have noticed that my server's been up and running hosting the mighty mt2e wad. If you haven't tried this wad yet I strongly advise that you do. Wink

It will be around, on and off, during the weeks up to Christmas - hopefully.

Of course, you don't have to wait for my server to appear, one of you fellows could host it. Very Happy

BUT TAKE CARE WITH THE MAP NUMBERS!!! Laughing

Yahoo/Geocities ceased their website hosting service a few months ago which means basically that the MAGNESITE has moved. The new URL is http://www.wells10000.plus.com/mt256/

There is no silly 10MB/hour limit and the server is much fasterrrr. Visit at your own peril! Twisted Evil

Always good to see MT2 running. Can't remember if I ever gave you feedback on all of these maps? Sure I must've done at some point. Anyways, perhaps you could go retro with some MT1 hosting sometime too?

As for MT2 - you did give me feedback and most of it was positive! Tintin66 seems to like them too - he can't stay away! Cool

By 25th January my telephone line/exchange should be upgraded to the new 21CN system (BT) with possible faster connection speeds. Still "up to 8Mb/s" but it will hopefully go above 5Mb/s more often. This will result in a killer ping so WATCH OUTTT! Very Happy

As you would expect there still has been no WAD development. I am enjoying hosting though, particularly the resurrected Boom Arena with chickens! Quite a few people seem to enjoy that one.

So look out for the [erractic] Servertron's in your ZDaemon Game Launcher. There's usually a bot or two on there, I know bots are annoying but they are useful for publicising a server.

Not a lot more to say except I have re-hashed the links on the MAGNESITE. There is a new link to this web site and also a link to a web site which a work colleague is involved with - NDSRevolution. It isn't Doom related but I couldn't resist a mickey-take link [he resembles Duke Nukem] Laughing
